A Few Short Responses and Answers from Jesus People President
This, I guess, is a blog. Since I’m not sure when I will have the money to print our next newsletter and to avoid wasting space in it, I want to respond to questions and accusations and to explain a few things.
Dan Corner did not say smoking a cigar sends people to hell in his book, “The Believers Conditional Security”. He did not even say it was a sin. Anyone can read the book for themselves. He merely pointed out a “Calvinist hero” was not perfect. Dan Corner deals with Biblical explicit sin in his book. Or you can contact him and ask him his opinion on the matter. I do not have money or time to respond to questions “like this”: If you think eating junk food, not getting regular healthy exercise, drinking caffeine drinks, tobacco, not getting proper sleep, etc., etc., is sinful – Don’t do it. I don’t have time for things I consider not very important. Or take our Bible course and I’ll give you my opinion. On the same subject of “accusing people of saying what they never said”; In 1995, Greg Durand published a book titled “The Five Points of Christianity-A Biblical Response to the heresy of Arminianism” published by Crown Rights Book Company, Aurora, CO and dedicated it to me: “This book is dedicated to Thomas Adcock of Jesus People Information Center, whose promise to “destroy predestination” remains unkept (Psalm 2:1-4)” while I do not consider this libel, he knows and I know and God knows his words are not true. We had written debates and he knows I said “His version” of predestination is what I am against. I have no hard feelings against Greg. I simply disagree with him. On the same subject of “libel/slander” a few years ago there was a homosexual marriage celebrated in Sacramento that got lots of news coverage. Someone started a rumor I was a protester holding a sign which said, “God Hates Fags” I was home watching that on TV. These protestors were from Kansas. If you slander me I will sue you. Slanderers are not sheep but goats, read your Bible.
To the “hard nose” Calvinists who send me their books claiming people like John Wesley, Charles Finney, Billy Sunday, Billy Graham, etc., are all “free willer heretics” because they give altar calls, save your time and money. I just throw that stuff in the garbage.
No Hebrews chapters 6 and 10 does not say a Christian who willfully commits a sin is lost and cannot repent. It does say saved Jews who reject Christ and return to “other sacrifices” have fallen from grace. Any apostate who remains apostate is incapable of repentance.
Yes, I’m pro-Israel. I believe they have the right to exist in that land. Call me bias if you want, I don’t care. My opinion is not dictated by my view of eschatology. Just by history, my own opinion of “fairness” and the fact I recognize their enemies as EVIL.
To the charge I confuse people by offering different views on eschatology books, my reply is by studying different views on all doctrines a person can discover they don’t know everything as well as find out some teachings are definitely not true.
We are not “Catholic Bashers” Roman Catholics have the correct biblical doctrine of God and believe in the same God as Protestants. I object to their unbiblical claims and traditions such as transubstantiation, being born again by infant baptism, praying to or with Mary, purgatory, etc. because some are anti-biblical. I am a charismatic, protestant Christian. By charismatic, I mean I do not believe God has withdrawn the supernatural gifts of the Holy Spirit from the church. Yet, I have criticized and exposed false doctrines of Charismatics constantly. That doesn’t make me a “charismatic basher”. There are a lot of religious people who just don’t want to admit they may be wrong so they put a label on people who disagree with them and reject anything they say. People who are not even Christians are wiser than this. To find truth about any subject, you must study the different views with an open mind.
In conclusion, unless you are in prison, do not write me and demand I explain the Trinity or the differences between conditional vs. unconditional security, etc. To be fair and honest I would have to write out hundreds of pages. You can take our Bible course or purchase the books on the subject. All my life I worked the type of jobs the President of Mexico said Americans would not work. And I am an American born WASP. If you want answers you’ll spend your money and time on what’s most important to you. I did, that’s how I learned. A word to the wise is sufficient” or as Forrest Gump said, “That’s all I have to say about that.”
